Ikan Belado (Padang Style Fish with Chilli)

This recipe is from my mum and I love how simple it is to make. If you are not a fish person, other alternatives are chicken or hard boiled egg. Good luck!

Ingredients A:
Mackerel steaks (6 pieces).
1 tablespoon of tumeric powder.

Part A:

  • Add tumeric powder, salt to taste to the mackerel steaks and fry them till brown and then put it aside


Ingredients B
5 fresh red chillis.
3 cloves garlic.
3 tablespoon of lemon juice.
1 Onion - cut into quarters.
10 cherry tomatoes (you can choose to add a bit more if love tomatoes)

Part B:

  • Blend the chillis & garlic cloves into a paste.


Next Steps:

  • Using the remaining oil after frying the fish, add in Ingredients B into the pot.
  • Add salt and sugar to taste.
  • Add in the lemon juice.
  • Put in the fried fish, onions & tomatoes into the pot and let it simmer.




*Serving suggestion: Serve best with piping hot white rice.
